Wow, I’m thrilled to pieces with my new belt drive kit. The polished aluminum support plate really adds that touch of class and sophistication I was looking for.

The belt drive kit is smooth and quiet but the vague instructions, sloppy tolerances and scratched plate left something to be desired. I’d check out other options unless you really want this specific design.

I bought the 8mm belt drive kit with outboard support plate and overall I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars – the kit includes a 3 inch belt drive with an outboard bearing support for the rear shaft which is supposed to keep the engine and transmission shafts from flexing, it’s a similar design to BDL’s top fuel kits, the good is it comes with aramid clutch assembly outer bearings and support plate clutch pressure plate etc, support plate is polished aluminum, can use 90-06 big twin starters, made in USA, the bad is customer service could be better they were slow to resolve some issues I had, doesn’t work with floorboards, as an expert whose reviewed a lot of similar products I’d say its a pretty good kit for the price but there are some minor issues that could be improved, overall though if you’re looking for a basic 3 inch belt drive kit that gets the job done without breaking the bank this ain’t a bad option, let me know if you have any other questions!

the 8mm belt drive kit with outboard support plate from bdl performs great once installed properly the clutch can be grabby from a stop but overall its a smooth quiet upgrade

After waiting eagerly for my new 8mm belt drive kit from BDL I’m thrilled to say it was worth the wait, installation was easy thanks to the instructions and the polished aluminum support plate looks great and really reinforces the rear shaft area, the aramid fiber clutch is buttery smooth and provides plenty of torque, engages seamlessly without the clunkiness I’ve had on other kits, while shipping took longer than expected BDL’s great customer service followed up to ensure I got it in good condition, after riding for weeks I’m still amazed by how quiet and smooth the transmission is compared to the noisy chain drive I had before, belt tension has stayed consistent too, for Harley riders looking to upgrade their drivetrain this kit can’t be beat, BDL nailed both the form and function from the sleek support plate to the robust clutch, I’m thrilled to have a premium belt drive on my bike, considering the quality components and machining the price is more than fair, highly recommended!

This 8mm belt drive kit seems fine I guess, but it’s pretty basic and nothing special for the price.
